Covid 19 Update
*Summer mission groups: We are unable to host groups until the state relaxes restrictions. As of now, weeks of service through July 11 are cancelled.
*We are asking our groups to consider rescheduling for this fall, winter, or spring, as this will enable us to resume ministry in our community!
*Group leaders: please log into the registration system and view more info and answer a few questions on the "Covid-19" page
*Our staff at both campus locations are continuing to serve local families by offering over 4000 meals daily to kids and families in our community!
Statement from Directors: (Updated 5/14/2020)
Big Creek family,
The COVID-19 crisis is impacting all our lives and evolving daily. Our prayer is that you and your church family are healthy, and finding ways to serve your community during this difficult time.
All of us are struggling to navigate through these uncertain Although we are currently not able to host any volunteer teams, our staff (even our construction crew) are still working in the community, trying to meet basic needs (See more about our food ministry below)
SUMMER MISSIONS & GROUPS:
Until the "social distancing" and travel bans have passed, we will be extremely limited with summer groups. Our facility, though large, doesn't offer us the option of keeping every participant 6 feet apart. We are looking at the situation closely, and will notify our teams 30 days before each week of service whether we'll be able to host teams.
WITHOUT TEAMS, WHAT ARE OUR STAFF DOING?
All our staff are working either in the food pantry or serving food to local children and families. Since March 15, our staff at both campus locations have provided approximately tens of thousands of hot meals and hundreds of food boxes to our community. Six days a week, our team prepares a simple breakfast and hot lunch to be delivered to local children. We're currently working with 5 different churches to deliver all the meals.
LESLIE COUNTY FOOD MINISTRY:
Starting May 24, we will be picking up the meals served by Clay County schools, as they stop serving 550 students on May 22. We pick up the Leslie County School Route - 500 more students - starting on June 1, as they stop delivering at the end of May. Our feet are tired, but we are pleased to be able to offer food with the hope that no child goes without a meal. That will bring us up to a potential 1700 meals served and delivered every day.
WHEELWRIGHT FOOD MINISTRY:
Bubba, Tammy, and their crew have been serving their community and providing about 200 meals every day!
Even though our construction ministry is temporarily halted, we hope to soon begin providing emergency repairs to our local senior citizens. We are adding a few staff to assist with our food ministry, thus freeing up our construction crews to start patching up major issues with homes.
Keep praying for us - and we'll be praying for you during these challenging times! If you'd like to give to support our feeding efforts, you may do so at this link
In Christ Alone,
Kevin Rogers, Director
